Working at a busy health food store I see lots of new products, drinks and foods claiming all sorts of super food superpowers. I have seen things from ‘fat-burning’ waters, to all sorts of magic pills ranging from $5 all the way up to the hundreds.
But the most important drink of all is water and it’s the one we all forget. When I see clients I ask them to write down a diet diary. 90% of them are not drinking enough water throughout the day, and yes I often am guilty of this too. Water is an essential and vital nutrient of the body. The body is made up of 55 to 75 per cent water. Water forms the basis of blood, digestive juices, urine and perspiration and is contained in lean muscle, fat and bones. We must all try consume 2-3 litres of water a day. This my friends, is the most important elixir of youth, health and vitality (and its free)!
