FAQs

1. What is naturopathy?

Naturopathy is an alternative medicine that takes a holistic approach to health based on the principle that the body has the inherit ability to heal itself. Naturopathic principles are based on treated the person as an individual looking at each body system, diet and lifestyle rather than the affected area of symptom. As a naturopath I use herbal medicine, lifestyle counselling and nutritional supplements to help restore balance in the body, address your health concerns and help you reach your optimum health levels.

2. What can I expect from an initial consultation?

During your initial consultation I take the time to really get to know you and your current health status. Together we will go through each body system, your diet, lifestyle factors and put together a naturopathic treatment plan. In some cases herbal
medicine, nutritional supplementation or further testings may be recommended. This is a chance for you to get a very comprehensive assessment of your current health and a detailed guide to address any concerns.

3. Do I have to purchase supplements and vitamins?

I do not always prescribe supplements or herbs. I am a huge believer in diet and food as medicine first and foremost. If you have a healthy, wholefood diet there is no need for a multivitamin. Supplements and herbs come in when you an acute condition
such as a cold or cough, or chronic conditions such as IBS or Arthritis. In these cases supplementation is recommended to assist the natural healing process. In every consultation the choice to use supplements is completely up to the individual.
